The cathedral and university city of Worcester sits on the banks of the River Severn. The skyline is dominated by the impressive structure of Worcester Cathedral, whose build began in 1084 and is home to Royal Tombs, Medieval cloisters, an ancient crypt, Chapter House, and magnificent Victorian stained glass. The cathedral library is home to one of the most important collection of medieval books and music, and used as a venue for many musical and choral recitals. Other historical sites to visit in Worcestershire include the historic Brockhampton Estate and Berrington Hall, both of which are part of the National Trust.
There is plenty going on in Worcester, and the city is renowned for the fantastic events and festivals it plays host to throughout the year. Music, historic reenactments, art exhibitions and local produce events, there is something for everyone to enjoy regardless of personal taste or age. With a self drive safari where visitors can view many different animal species from the comfort and safety of their own vehicles, animal encounters to get up close and personal, and a theme park; everyone can enjoy a full day out. The nearby Three Counties Showground at Malvern also provides visitors to Worcestershire with over 250 days of events per year.
